The Cherokee Nation Early Childhood Unit is accepting applications for the Head Start (3 to 4 years old) and Early Head Start (6 weeks to 3 years old) programs. Applicants must live within the 14-county tribal jurisdiction.
Applications can be obtained at all Cherokee Nation Head Start centers or at http://www.cherokee.org/Services/Education/HeadStart-EarlyChildhoodUnit.aspx.
Copies of the following documents must be submitted with the application:
Head Start and Early Head Start implement American Indian heritage, Cherokee culture and Cherokee language, and provide services in the areas of education, physical fitness, medical and dental, health, nutrition and social development, with an emphasis for children with special needs.

To apply for admission to the Cherokee Nation Child Development Centers in Tahlequah and Stilwell, parents must apply at the center. All applicants will be put on a waiting list. For more information call the Tahlequah center at (918) 453-5070 or the Stilwell center at (918) 696-3222.
