ROLAND, Okla. — Known for their infectious energy and club anthems, the Ying Yang Twins will bring southern hip-hop to Lee Creek Tavern inside Cherokee Casino & Hotel Roland on Saturday, Aug. 2, at 9 p.m.
The show is free and open to the public ages 21 and older.
The Ying Yang Twins — D-Roc and Kaine — have been a driving force in Southern hip-hop for more than two decades. They broke into the mainstream with their 2000 single "Whistle While You Twurk," which became a hit across urban and pop radio, peaking at No. 17 on the U.S. R&B/Hip-Hop chart. That same year, they released their debut album, “Thug Walkin’,” and began building a loyal fan base throughout the South.
Their momentum continued with the 2002 release of “Alley: The Return of the Ying Yang Twins,” coinciding with their breakout feature on Lil Jon & the Eastside Boyz’s multi-platinum track “Get Low.” Signing with TVT Records soon after, the duo released their platinum-selling album “Me & My Brother” in 2003, spawning several hits including “Salt Shaker,” “Naggin’” and “Whats Happnin!”
Throughout the mid-2000s, the Twins remained a dominant force on radio and in clubs. In 2005, they released “U.S.A. (United State of Atlanta)” with smash singles “Wait (The Whisper Song),” “Badd” and “Shake.” The album went platinum, solidifying their role in shaping the crunk sound of the era. They also collaborated with pop icon Britney Spears on her track “I Got That (Boom Boom),” further showcasing their crossover appeal.
In 2006, they expanded their sound on “Chemically Imbalanced,” working with renowned producers Wyclef Jean and Keith Duplessis. They followed up with “Ying Yang Forever” in 2009 and have continued to release new music and perform for packed venues worldwide.
Their hit “Halftime (Stand Up and Get Crunk)” remains a staple in professional sports arenas and gained iconic status during the New Orleans Saints’ Super Bowl-winning season. The song has also been featured in video games like Madden NFL 11 and NFL Street 2 and is regularly used by teams like the San Antonio Spurs.
