WEST SILOAM SPRINGS, Okla. — Cherokee Casino & Hotel West Siloam Springs will welcome groundbreaking ’80s hair band Quiet Riot at 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, at SEVEN Bar inside the casino.
A pioneering force in heavy metal, Quiet Riot is known for kicking the door open for Sunset Strip hair metal bands, driving the genre with legendary songs such as “Cum On Feel the Noize,” “Bang Your Head (Metal Health),” “Mama Weer All Crazee Now,” “Slick Black Cadillac” and “The Wild and the Young.”
The band made music history with its monster 1983 smash album “Metal Health,” the first heavy metal album to reach No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, surpassing blockbuster releases, including Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.” The album went on to achieve 5x platinum status, selling 10 million copies and ushering in the era of hard rock and “hair metal” that dominated MTV and radio throughout the 1980s.
Since its debut album, the band has released more than a dozen albums and sold more than 15 million records worldwide. Its influence extends well beyond the concert stage. “Bang Your Head (Metal Health)” and “Cum On Feel the Noize” have become anthems of both a generation and pop culture, appearing in films, television shows and video games. The band’s legacy and place in music history have been chronicled in the critically acclaimed documentary “Quiet Riot: Well Now You’re Here, There’s No Way Back.”
The show is free to those 21 and older.
