VINITA, Okla. — Celebrate Cherokee art, culture, music and tradition at the ninth annual Cherokee Day at Eastern Trails Museum on Oct. 3.
The family-friendly event begins at 11 a.m. with opening remarks by Cherokee Nation Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr.
“For nine years we have gathered at the beautiful Eastern Trails Museum in celebration of Cherokee art and culture,” said Cherokee Nation First Lady January Hoskin. “This event is about community, tradition and what it means to be Cherokee, and I couldn’t be prouder of the artists, families and everyone who helps bring this celebration to life.”
Guests will enjoy live music from the Cherokee National Youth Choir, interactive cultural demonstrations by several Cherokee artists and a make-and-take craft activity. The event includes demonstrations in traditional weapons, flint knapping, pottery, metalworking, basketry and traditional games.
Cherokee Day at Eastern Trails Museum began in 2016 at the suggestion of First Lady January Hoskin, a longtime supporter of the museum and local art and history projects.
