ROLAND, Okla. — Cherokee Casino & Hotel Roland will welcome the country-crossover, legendary band Exile at 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, at Lee Creek Tavern inside the casino.
The show is free and open to the public ages 21 and up.
Known for its chart-topping hits ranging from soft pop rock to its highly successful crossover into country music, the band has cemented its status as one of the most versatile and enduring groups in the American music landscape.
Forming first as a pop-rock high school band called The Exiles, the group played small, local venues until landing success in the late 1970s. The band’s 1978 hit “Kiss You All Over” spent four weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s pop chart and was named BMI’s Song of the Year.
Exile’s transition to country music in the 1980s marked a new chapter in its career, producing 10 No. 1 country hits, including “Give Me One More Chance,” “Crazy for Your Love” and “She’s a Miracle.”
The band has received 12 nominations between the Country Music Association and Academy of Country Music Awards, including a CMA nomination for Vocal Group of the Year for four consecutive years. Exile’s original song “The Closer You Get” was covered by country powerhouse group Alabama, peaking at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart.
Exile’s current lineup features original members J.P. Pennington and Marlon Hargis, along with Sonny LeMaire, Steve Goetzman and Les Taylor, who continue to deliver unforgettable performances spanning the group’s extensive catalog.
